Did I make the right choice?
A new job always feels a bit like a leap in the dark. After a few months this jump into the unknown may or may not prove to be the right choice. This time, by choosing Sirus and having experienced the first months here, I realized my feet had landed exactly where they were supposed to be, my decision turned out to be the right one.
Once the first few days filled with loads of information had passed, I immediately turned myself towards my tasks and felt my energy increasing. As a matter of fact, I still feel this rush of energy coursing through my veins when I start to work each day.
My first responsibilities
One of my first tasks was to renew our car fleet. We decided to only order hybrid or electrical vehicles from now on. This way, our people contribute to the goal of reducing harmful carbon dioxide emissions. And to be quite honest, an electrical vehicle turns out to be a hell of a fun ride.
In addition to this previous assignment, I committed myself to developing a practical guide which answers all questions ranging from personnel administration, insurance, cars… In short, I tried to make the life of my colleagues at Sirus a bit more simple so they could focus their full attention towards the projects they’re working on.
What about a crazy idea for once?
And then Jochen turned his attention to the following question: “How can we recruit at least ten people in 2022?”. As in many sectors, finding the right people for the job, is not an easy task these days. We sat down together and started discussing ideas on how to reach this goal. As an innovative company we want to continue to grow and in order to do that, we need the right people.
All this fun and serious talk eventually led to a crazy idea. How can we attract the right people in a fun and unique way, while rewarding them at the same time for choosing to further develop their career at our company? Well, why not go to NASA? Sounds fun, right? I believe I don’t have to further elaborate on how this idea was conceived in our company? Everyone jumped aboard and started to work on this campaign in order to successfully launch our big idea by the beginning of February.
Hey Houston, I’m home
If, after reading this, you’re still not convinced of my passion and enthusiasm in working for Sirus, I would like to add one more thing. I sincerely hope I can continue to help write the story of Sirus for a very long time, cause after a long journey, I’ve finally come home!
