Smart Company Project: ConstruTraining

Constructiv is a service-oriented organization for and by the construction sector. The company strives to ensure that everyone with talent finds their way into the industry and has opportunities to grow. Constructiv supports construction companies and individuals with advice, guidance, and financial support, thereby contributing to safe, high-quality, and healthy working conditions.

What was needed?

Constructiv guides construction companies toward relevant training programs but does not provide training itself. Instead, they collaborate with structural partners. To showcase the full range of training options available in the construction sector, Constructiv previously requested each partner to submit information about their courses via Excel files. These files were manually consolidated and then made available in both printed format and as a downloadable PDF. This process was extremely time-consuming, creating the need for a more structured solution.

What did Sirus do?

Sirus was brought in to develop a digital platform that centralizes all relevant and up-to-date training programs in the construction sector, offered by various partners across Belgium. The platform was named ConstruTraining.

How is the platform structured?

The ConstruTraining platform serves three different target groups, each with unique needs. For this reason, the platform consists of three separate applications: a public training catalog, a module for training partners, and a back-office application for Constructiv employees.

The public training catalog

The platform is user-friendly and well-organized. Visitors immediately see an interactive overview of all available training programs in the construction sector. Thanks to convenient filtering options, they can quickly find a program that matches their needs and interests. Additionally, an integration allows users to register directly with the organizing training center, directing them to the respective registration page.

The module for training partners

This module enables training partners to manage their course offerings and registrations. Some providers have already linked their system to the ConstruTraining platform using the available REST APIs, ensuring that new courses are automatically synchronized. Those without their own system can manually enter their course offerings.

The back-office application for Constructiv employees

The imported training data is processed within Constructiv’s back-office application. Here, the Constructiv case manager gets a clear overview of both existing and newly submitted courses awaiting approval. Before appearing in the public catalog, courses must first be recognized by Constructiv based on relevance and quality. Once approved, the course becomes visible in the catalog. If an employer enrolls their employees in an approved training program, they are eligible for financial support.

To facilitate these financial contributions, Constructiv requires enrollment data from the training centers. The platform includes a feedback loop that ensures registration data flows automatically from the training centers to the ConstruTraining back-office. This automation eliminates the need for training centers to send participant lists via email, significantly reducing administrative workload.

Technicalities of the project

What does the future hold?

The ultimate goal of this project is to minimize the processing time for financial reimbursements after a training course and to fully digitize paper-based processes. By feeding the ConstruTraining platform with up-to-date training and enrollment data, Constructiv can quickly issue financial support to employers of participating employees.
