At Sirus, we are committed to staying at the forefront of technological advancements and industry trends. Five of our top developers — Kristof, Pieter-Jan, Filip, Maarten, and Sam — felt the same when departing for Wiesbaden, Germany, this May. Their mission was to immerse themselves in the latest Microsoft developments at two of the tech industry’s leading conferences: the European Cloud Summit and the European Collaboration Summit. These summits gave our team invaluable insights into the Microsoft technology ecosystem, particularly Azure, Microsoft 365, and the Power Platform.
Cloud Summit takeaways
At the European Cloud Summit, our developers engaged with numerous sessions focused on enhancing cloud technology applications. Notably, they explored Azure Chaos Studio and the Semantic Kernel SDK.
- Azure Chaos Studio: This tool allows you to inject real problems and incidents into your environment. It’s advisable to run it in a test environment, but even more important to run it in a production environment to ensure that your “real” environment responds as expected. It also integrates with Azure DevOps pipelines.
- SKU Pricing for Copilot: The pricing and requirements for SKUs can sometimes be excessively high, making it less attractive for many of our clients.
- Microsoft Fabric: This is the new unified analytics stack that comes with built-in AI capabilities.
- Semantic Kernel: A new SDK that makes it easy to create AI agents in code.
Collaboration Summit takeaways
The European Collaboration Summit shifted the focus towards leveraging artificial intelligence to maximize the capabilities of Microsoft 365.
- Copilot is all over the place (>100 Copilots).
- Maintaining high standards in data quality, security, and governance is more important than ever.
- AI is part of both the security problem and the solution, with AI security tooling playing a crucial role.
- There are several ways to integrate external data, including: Migration to M365 – Copilot for M365 with plugins and connectors – Custom Copilot solutions using Copilot Studio or Azure AI Studio.
- M365 Deprecation: Azure ACS, SP Add-ins, and RER (27).
These conferences not only provided our team with a deeper understanding of cutting-edge technologies but also equipped them with practical strategies to implement these technologies in our client projects. We are excited to integrate these innovations at Sirus, and further develop the IT solutions of the future. Solutions that are strategically tailored to the needs of our clients and the dynamic tech landscape.
