This blog is a preview of our session at Sirus Connects on October 9, 2026, where we dive into how to build a Data Space with Linked Data and AI.
Speakers:
Imagine this: two organisations want to exchange data in an interoperable way using Linked Data. They quickly run into questions such as: how do we map to Linked Data models, which API do we offer, how do we grant access, and how can AI work with Linked Data?
Data spaces promise the solution, a shared infrastructure within which organisations can exchange data sovereignly.
Unfortunately, data spaces are not a plug-and-play solution at this point; they require choices across several layers at once. This blog outlines our approach to setting up a data space using the most recent Linked Data standards.
The challenge: all roads lead to Rome
Linked Data is at the heart of it: a way to publish data with meaning baked in. Not merely rows and columns, but data that explains itself and links to the world beyond. To do this, we use standards from OSLO and W3C, among others, to semantically elevate non-Linked Data, and in doing so create interoperability across organisational boundaries.
There is a wide range of options for exchanging Linked Data. In our session we will show how far you can already get with Linked Data Event Streams (LDES) and SPARQL (a query API).
With the recent rise of Large Language Models, better ways are emerging to further enrich Linked Data, but it remains important that the user still has control over determining what is correct. In the session we present our approach using Named Entity Recognition (NER) and Named Entity Linking (NEL).
What you can expect
This session takes you through the full construction site of a data space: from the first concepts of Linked Data to the finer points of AI-driven annotation, from event streaming to verifiable access.
You will not get theoretical architecture diagrams, but concrete choices, real project experiences, and an honest picture of what works and what falls short. Whether you are a data engineer, architect, developer, or analyst, you will leave this session with new tools in your head and practical pointers you can apply right away.
Come meet us live at Sirus Connects and discover how to turn a bumpy data-sharing journey into a solid, scalable reality.
